    Updated Information
    -
A well informed eBay Seller reached out and suggested this is most likely not Haeger or Hickman based on the glaze. "This looks more like the bottom style (wedges) of American Bisque or possibly Cherokee Pottery but
definitely not Haeger.  Gold Tweed or Golden Tweed is a matt finish "brushed" gold look glaze and never a high gloss finish like this"
.  I will leave it up to potential buyers to make up their mind before purchasing... either way Make an offer :)***
    >
As in many early items of pottery there are pieces that go unmarked just like molds and forms that are utilized long after the artist is no longer making pottery.  I'm not saying this is the case here but having discussed with several local antique shops and doing my extensive research I am convinced this is early Royal Hickman Pottery

    Supporting Information
    >
Found in Tampa Florida within 1 mile of where Royal Hickman had his pottery before the facility burned down in 1952
    .
    > Royal Hickman & Royal Haeger frequently created planters and vases using birds as subjects (I have seen photos of his work using Pelicans, Cranes, Swans, Geese, Roosters, Peacocks and Ducks)
    > Besides finding this in the backyard of his pottery, the glazing style and colors are typical of Royal Hickman (Gold Tweed, Walnut).  Look at the over-abundance of fish examples using his creative and unique glazing style.
    > Entire item is glazed
    > Contains expected three marks on the bottom for the pins during firing
    Professional Background Information
    >
Royal Hickman designed pottery, glass, silver, aluminum, furniture, lamps, and other items.
From 1938 to 1944 and again from the 1950s to 1969, he worked for Haeger Potteries. Mr. Hickman operated his own pottery in Tampa, Florida, during the 1940s.
He moved to California and worked for Vernon Potteries. The last years of his life he lived in Guadalajara, Mexico, and continued designing for Royal Haeger.
The company is named Royal Hickman because Hickman's first name was Royal, not because it was approved by royalty.
    > In 1938 design genius Royal Hickman joined the company to introduce an extraordinary line of artwork, called Royal Haeger.  Hickman's work was daringly intricate with smooth, flowing lines and highly original glazes.

In 1949, Royal Hickman, one of America’s leading ceramic designers, moved to Clearwater Beach
from Chattanooga, Tennessee, planning on retirement. Hickman bought a boat, the Royal T, and soon found himself very bored.
Hickman purchased some land on Nebraska Avenue in Tampa, near present day Fowler Avenue, and started Royal Hickman Limited
    .
The Tampa plant, with thirty employees, produced some of Hickman’s best designs including flamingo flower holders, pelican wall pockets and ashtrays, vases in the form of shells and magnificent lamps
. The pottery burned to the ground just before Christmas, 1952.
