THE ITEM DESCRIPTION:
Postcard numbered 7095 depicts Mickey Mouse & Minnie sitting on a living room sofa arms around each other. The Inter-Art cards feature Mickey & Minnie portrayed & dressed very differently than the Disney studio artists would. Note the colorful shorts & skirts & the hands with 5 fingers. This card is unused & in excellent condition.
Very clean with bright colors against a pure white background.
There is some yellowed tape residue on the back only, a minor distraction. A series of very early 1930s postcards produced in Great Britain (the UK) by Inter-Art Co. Florence House Barnes SW (London) under license from Ideal Films, distributors of Mickey Mouse animated short films. Walt Disney licensed Ideal Films to distribute his earliest animated short films in the UK circa 1930 & in turn Ideal used that license to authorize the production of toys, dolls, postcards & other merchandise. Cards produced by Inter-Art are likely the earliest of the Mickey Mouse postcards & the art work is very robust, edgy & sly. Much more European than American. Very desirable. 073021/93BE(1)
