Organized in 1861, the famed Irish Brigade of the Army of the Potomac fought with honor and distinction in every major battle in the east, from 1st Bull Run through Appomattox, losing thousands of men.
This medal is a reproduction of that presented to Brigadier-General Thomas Francis Meagher (pronounced Marr), the first commander of the Brigade, by the grateful citizens of New York at a dinner held in his honor on June 25, 1863 at the Astor House. The Latin inscription translates to read,
Boldness in Dangers and Trust in Heaven
.
The original ribbon is red, white and blue, with green edges but has been changed to adhere to the current US Army Heraldry standard, whereby the stripes, which appear on the ribbons of newly authorized medals, are symmetrical.
The overall length of the beautiful, high quality medal is appx. 3 1/4" (80mm), the medal itself is appx. 1 5/8" (40mm) across.  The chest ribbon measures 1 1/2" (35mm) x 1/2" (13mm), and the lapel pin measures 11/16" (17mm) x 3/16 (4mm), and it comes packed in a clear plastic, foam lined presentation case.

We cannot be responsible for any items shipped outside of the United States if damaged, refused, or seized by customs regulators in your country, etc.  Import duties, taxes and other charges you might incur due to overseas shipping are not included in the item price and are the buyers responsibility.  Please check with your country's Customs Office and /or Postal Service to determine what, if any, additional costs will be added prior to bidding/buying.  Delivery time to your country can vary widely, from a few days to many weeks, depending on your local mail processing and/or customs inspection requirements.
