Description
Up for auction a charming hand crafted counted cross stitch stocking. It is a picture a polar bear dressed in Christmas garb with a bundel of presents accompanied by two penguins sitting on top of ice. It is just charming! This is from the JCA Needle Treasures Collection and the title is: SOUTH POLE HOLIDAY STOCKING - Kit #02837. It is adapted from a design by Deborah Calvin Borgo - 1990. There is a label on the inside of the stocking indicating that it was the sales model. There is still a strip of velcro on the back from when this was on display.
The stocking is 9 1/2" x 15 1/2" tall. It has blue piping and white felt backing and it totally lined. At the top is the name JON which is done in cross stitches and can be easily removed and a different name added.
I also have other hand crafted models that do not have any name on the top. If you are interested, I can personalize the stocking and add a name to the top. Just let me know.
Included in The listing is a picture of the kit which is shown for reference as this stocking does not come with the kit.
This was a hand crafted model to a kit which would have been on display in a store to show the prospective buyers how the item will look when finished. It has a label indicating it was done in the Azores.
I learned recently that the name on many of these finished pieces identified the company as JCA Inc. with an address in Massachusettes. They evidently ceased operations and will not be making/distributing anymore needlecraft kits. These finished piece from kits are already hard to find and will only be offered occasionally perhaps on the internet. Per the JCA website:
"Due to the death of our owner, Alan S. Getz, JCA, Inc. has ceased operations indefinitely.
We would like to thank our loyal customers who have supported JCA for over 50 years.
JCA manufactures premium needlecraft products and distributes fine knitting yarns. We are an amalgamation of three companies-Paternayan Brothers (started in 1939), Elsa Williams (started in 1960) and Reynolds Yarns (also started in 1960)."
