SPECIAL LIMITED TIME - GET 2 MEDALS FOR THE PRICE OF 1 - Reproduction - General Custer's exploits during the Civil War were many. During that time, Custer established the famed Michigan Cavalry Brigade which won much distinction. The Brigade was comprised of the 1st, 5th, 6th and 7th Michigan Cavalry regiments. The Michigan Brigade thought highly of their Brigadier, and his name became their battle cry. General Custer returned the esteem of his troopers by calling them "Wolverines."
Custer also gave them the Michigan Brigade its own distinctive emblem - a red necktie. He then spent a good part of his pay on a special medal.
This medal designed and manufactured by New York's famed Tiffany & Company. The badge was a solid gold Maltese Cross, mounted by the Brigadier's star. At the bottom of the medal is the word "TUBOR" - meaning "I will be Defended." This medal was given out on Custer's orders only to his officers who has shown conspicuous gallantry in the face of the enemy.
The medal has been reproduced from Elizabeth B. Custer's book "Tenting On The Plains." It is gold plated with a dark blue enamel paint in the background. Size: 1-1/4" Wide X 1-3/4" Tall. Satisfaction is Guaranteed!
