Creepy Wooden Black Cobra Snake Folk Art Old Haunted Halloween Prop 12” Scary

I acquired this object at an estate sale. The woman selling it told me it belonged to her parents, who both passed away within 24 hours of each other. Their old house was condemned and knocked down for a new house to be built, but this 12” snake was found beneath the wreckage of a staircase, right in the middle of the house. The daughter knew nothing of its origin but told me she was somewhat frightened of it, and was glad to get rid of it. Her parents had been normal people who would not have liked this sculpture, and it’s likely that it was in their house before they moved in.
As for the object itself, the snake is 12” tall by 8” at its widest point. It appears to be carved out of wood with leather (?) stretched over the wood. Details have been etched into the leather. The eyes are a clear red material, probably glass, and the tongue is made of wire. The leather has damage in some places (pictured). The sculpture rests on a simple wooden frame made of a tree branch. The snake looks like some sort of cobra.
No idea where it was made or when. I consider it to be some sort of dark folk art.
