Coal Mine Scatter Tag Colorado Fuel and Iron Co. Crested Butte Diavolo Coals

Excellent condition. 1 5/8 inches diameter.  Heavy paper or cardboard. 1/32 inch thick.  Estimated to be from the 1920's to 1940's.  Since all coal looks the same, companies wanted some way to identify their coal.  So they added these scatter tags to the coal.  Some used paper ones, some used other materials.
I assume  these tags were from the "Big Mine" just outside Crested Butte.  C F & I operated this one from 1902 to 1952.  I  haven't found the names of other mines in this district .  I acquired these about 30 mi from CB  area many years ago.  There are other coal mines in that area but I think they were owned by other companies.
